How verification works

Neighbors report a camera. Other neighbors confirm it. Old pins fade. Home cameras stay on the block, not on the doorbell.

Verification ladder

  1. Unverified — submitted, not yet corroborated
  2. Community-confirmed — neighbors corroborated presence/type
  3. Source/FOIA-confirmed — backed by public records or authoritative sources

Device taxonomy (v1)

  • Municipal / vendor ALPR (e.g. Flock) — pole-level when verified
  • Fixed Axon & police CCTV — exact when verified
  • Commercial / parking — exact or entrance
  • Residential / private — block-level by default
  • Other / unknown — unverified until confirmed

Residential precision

Private home cameras (doorbell, driveway, HOA) use approximate block-level by default so alerts can warn for an area without publishing the doorbell. Higher precision requires reporter opt-in and policy review.

Non-goals

No tampering, jamming, or disable guidance. No live feeds. No live hot-list or person-level Palantir / fusion lookup. Searched is not scanned. See guidelines and about.
